Coventry vs Fleetwood Town Predictions

Coventry will be looking for a first win in five when they welcome Fleetwood to St Andrew’s on Wednesday evening. The Cod Army on the other hand, go in search of a fourth win in five matches.

It was a case of same old, same old for Coventry on Saturday afternoon. Once again, the Sky Blues were the dominant side, as they simply battered MK Dons in terms of shots, shots on target and general chances created, though a lack of end-product meant that it was a third game without a goal for Mark Robins’ men, who’re really starting to struggle when it comes to getting the ball in the net.

In their last couple of games, creativity has not been a problem for Coventry, who posted 1.98 expected goals for against Tranmere and 2.2 expected goals for against MK Dons. They also registered a combined total of 37 shots in those two games yet couldn’t get the ball in the net. Fortunately, the Sky Blues have only failed to score once at St Andrew’s in this season, averaging 1.43 goals for, so after two highly creative displays, they should fancy themselves to do the business offensively on Wednesday.

While Coventry have been struggling to score goals over the last few weeks, Fleetwood have had little problem notching. They scored four at the weekend, while they’ve found the net 12 times in their last five.

Fleetwood have also found it easy to score goals away from home this term, failing to score in just one out of five. They’ve scored at least twice in each of the other four, scoring three times in three of those. However, Joey Barton’s men haven’t exactly excelled at preventing teams from scoring when playing on their travels, as they’ve kept just one clean sheet and have shipped nine in five.

In the betting, both ‘Over 2.5 Goals’ and ‘Both Teams to Score’ make lots of appeal. Coventry are without a goal in three games, but their creative efforts have been so good that it’s only a matter of time before they start scoring again. They’re also averaging a solid 1.43 goals for and 1.44 expected goals for at their adopted home. Add in the fact that Fleetwood have both scored and conceded lots on the road, 2.2 goals for and 1.8 goals against, and it’s easy to feel that there’s a slightly greater chance of a high-scoring game taking place at St Andrew’s than the current odds suggest.
