Coventry vs Morecambe Predictions

It is finally here, the end of the Football League season. Although most of the issues in League Two have been decided, there is still a handful of matches where sides have more than pride to play for and that is exactly the case at the Ricoh Arena this weekend as Coventry City welcome Morecambe. The Sky Blues are still yet to confirm their spot in the end of season play-offs and need at least a point to be absolutely certain of it, whilst the visitors are yet to do enough to secure their survival in the division and they know they will need at least a point to retain their spot in League Two for next season.

Truth be told, a point is not necessarily enough for Morecambe as a win for Barnet will mean relegation is decided on goal difference, however, as they are seven goals better off than their relegation rivals in that respect, it is highly unlikely they will go down on that point. Unfortunately for Morecambe, a much more real prospect of them going down is found by them suffering defeat at the hands of this weekends opposition.

Coventry have been in no mood to mess around in the final few weeks of the season and given that they go into this match on the back of a 6-1 demolition of Cheltenham Town, it is hard to make a case for the opposition to gain a positive result. With this in mind, we think that backing the hosts to win represents the best chance of a return.

We are not done there though, as Coventry have scored two goals or more in each of their last five home matches and they are up against a Morecambe side who have the second worst offensive record in the division, we think that this one could end up in quite a high score in favour of the hosts. With this in mind, we think backing Coventry with a (-1) handicap represents an excellent opportunity to increase the return. For those of you who don’t already know, this simply means we are backing Coventry to win by more than one goal.

If there are going to be plenty of goals scored by the hosts, then one man who is sure to be in on the action is striker Marc McNulty. The 25-year-old leads the clubs scoring charts with 23 goals this season and after a hat-trick in his last outing made it five goals in his last three appearance, we think he is well worth a punt on scoring anytime against Morecambe this weekend.
