Crawley Town vs Grimsby Town Predictions

  • Crawley Town have scored in each of their last 7 matches.
  • 69% of Crawley Town’s points have been earned at home.
  • Grimsby have been undefeated in their last 4 away matches.

Getting over the line

It has been a frustrating few weeks for Crawley Town and their fans, as they have competed well in League 2 and put in some solid performances. However, the results have not reflected this recent upturn in form. The hosts have only managed to win two of their last eight outings and only one of them came in a convincing fashion, as they defeated Northampton in a dominant 4-0 win.

Crawley are able to find the back of the net on a fairly regular basis as they have scored in each of their last seven league matches, but with only one clean sheet in that same time frame, it is easy to see why they have not been able to convert more of those outings into wins. However, they are in good form on home soil so they will fully expect to be able to get over the line this weekend.

Is Holloway the man to get Grimsby firing?

Since Grimbsy Town appointed Ian Holloway after holding talks at a fish and chip restaurant in Cleethorpes, it has been a story of positivity for the Mariners. Holloway had been out of management since leaving QPR in May 2018 but the 56-year-old agreed to come back to the club and succeed Michael Jolley, who was sacked in November after a seven-game winless run.

The always entertaining manager has so far had a solid start to his time with the Mariners as, although they fell to defeat last time out against an in form Exeter side, that was the first time Grimsby had been defeated in six matches. Unsurprisingly, that result helped them pull away from the drop zone, and even though they have failed to score more than once in their last 15 league matches, there is all of a sudden an air of positivity around the club.

Nothing between them

This weekends clash between Crawley and Grimsby sees two sides take collide who have been in solid, yet unspectacular form of late. The hosts frequently find the back of the net and have scored in each of their last seven, but also conceded in six of those same matches. Meanwhile, the visitors are not renowned for finding the back of the net but have been improving on that aspect since the appointment of a new manager. All of this leads us to believe that backing both teams to score looks to be the wisest bet to make in this fixture.

In terms of a correct score tip, we cannot see this one being a particularly high scoring affair. As already discussed, we think both sides will score but with the hosts averaging just 1.36 goals per game at home this season and the visitors failing to score over one goal in a game in their last 15 league matches, backing a 1-1 draw looks to be as high scoring as this one gets.
