Crawley Town vs Mansfield Town Predictions

It’s safe to say that Crawley Town have had something of a stop-start season. The Reds started off well enough, but since winning three of their opening four games they’ve never really been able to pick up any momentum in League 2 and as such they find themselves in a thoroughly underwhelming position.

Coming into their final 10 matches of the domestic campaign, they lie 18th in the League 2 table, with a win over Grimsby at the weekend putting them a comfortable 12 points above the relegation zone but without any real hope of making any great strides forward.

That win at the weekend did end a five match winless streak for Crawley though, and despite this they have only lost five of their last 13 matches. The hosts could be a difficult side to beat on Tuesday, and Mansfield haven’t had it plain sailing themselves.

The visitors are in an excellent position though, sitting just a point shy of the last of the automatic promotion spots and looking very good value for a playoff appearance at least this term. Considering they finished just outside the playoffs and 12 points shy of automatic promotion last season, this represents a very significant step forward for The Stags.

Recently though, the visitors form hasn’t been quite up to scratch. They lost at Port Vale on Saturday to make it three defeats from their last five outings. All three of these losses have come on the road as well, so they will be desperate to end that streak in midweek.

One notable concern of late is their struggles in front of goal. Mansfield have scored just two goals in their last four away matches, and combining that with Crawley Town’s less than impressive attacking record means we could be in for a low scoring affair here.

In fact, four of Crawley’s last six home matches have seen fewer than three goals in total, and with Mansfield seeing just seven goals scored in their last four away matches we think backing Under 2.5 Goals is a good option here alongside a 1-1 correct score prediction.
