Cruzeiro vs Corinthians Predictions

Saturday’s Brazilian Serie A action sees Cruzeiro and Corinthians going blow for blow at the Mineirão. An exciting game is expected to be in order, with plenty of chances at either end.

Cruzeiro don’t arrive for this match with a huge amount of momentum behind them. On paper, Raposa should be competing at the top end of Serie A this season but performances thus far haven’t matched the undoubted quality the team has. With just 7 points from 7 games, the hosts have made an underwhelming start to the season and need to find improvement soon to ease pressure that’s building in the stands.

Cruzeiro edged past Fluminense in the cup on penalties in midweek, which should raise confidence somewhat but they’ve still not won any of their last 7 games, which is a big concern. The side aren’t finding it hard to score goals but are finding it equally difficult to keep them out and both teams have now scored in their last 8 games, leaving no doubts as to where their issues lie.

Meanwhile, Corinthians boss Fabio Carille had been struggling to really get going upon his return to the club but his team have been showing signs of improvement in recent weeks. Carille lead Timao to the title back in 2017 and fans are hopeful he can get the team competing at the top end of Serie A once again, after a poor campaign last year.

Corinthians were eliminated from the cup in midweek against a powerful Flamengo outfit but they’ve still won 4 of their last 5 games overall, so confidence shouldn’t be too badly affeced coming into this trip. Currently 9th in the league, the visitors will be desperate for a positive result to push higher up the table.

Ultimately, we’re expecting a pretty entertaining game here between two sides that certainly have the potential to do well this season if they start to find more consistency. There is quality in abundance in both ranks and that should lead to a close, but exciting 90 minutes as the two chase the 3 points on offer.

All things considered, backing both nets to be hit looks the best way to play as far as the betting is concerned and is exactly where our money is going at appealing odds. Both nets have been hit in Cruzeiro’s last 8 games and with Corinthians having scored an average of 1.4 goals a game over their last 5 matches, that’s a streak that could well continue via a 1-1 draw.
