Cruzeiro vs Huracan Predictions

Wednesday’s Copa Libertadores group stage action sees Brazilians Cruzeiro doing battle with Argentines Huracan. The hosts will be gunning for the three points that would put them all but into the last 16.

Cruzeiro were always expected to dominate this group and thus far, they’re on course to do exactly that, having taken maximum points from trips to Huracan themselves and Emelec, as well as from a home clash with Venezuelans Deportivo Lara. Such a commanding start now has the side in a great position and if they can win again on Wednesday, they’ll be all but through to the knockout phase.

It’s not just the Copa Libertadores Cruzeiro have been impressing in either and they look set for a good year across all fronts. They’ve been excellent so far in 2019 and arrive with confidence sky high, currently unbeaten in 18 matches and also having won 9 straight matches whilst plunging home a staggering average of 2.55 goals a game.

Meanwhile, Huracan have really struggled in 2019, with Gustavo Alfaro’s decision to leave the Globo dugout for Boca causing real issues. Antonio Mohamed has struggled to settle back in at the club upon his return and Huracan certainly aren’t looking much of a force, having won just 1 of their last 13 matches, losing 8 times in the process.

As far as the Libertadores goes, Huracan are all but out, considering they have just 1 point to their name and don’t look like taking anywhere near enough points from their remaining 3 games to turn the situation around. The visitors will still be desperate to try and take home a positive result from Brazil, but 4 defeats from their last 6 away games means that simply doesn’t look on the cards.

Ultimately, there can be no doubting who are the favourites to win this match and Cruzeiro will be expecting to triumph comfortably. They’ve already beaten Huracan in Buenos Aires this year and are by far the stronger of the two on paper, so should be able to beat them again on home soil.

All things considered, we just can’t envisage Cruzeiro dropping points and feel that backing them on the -1 handicap provides excellent value. They’re scoring goals for fun at the minute and with Huracan so low on confidence and morale, the hosts shouldn’t have any issues in dispatching of them, with a 2-0 margin of home victory appearing likely.
