Crystal Palace vs Middlesbrough Predictions

Crystal Palace’s descent into misery doesn’t seem to be showing many signs of slowing down at the moment. After a 4-0 battering at home to Sunderland at the start of February they were beaten at Stoke. They had last weekend off due to their early failure in the FA Cup though.

Overall they have lost four of their last five games, and prior to that it wasn’t much better. Looking at the long term form of Palace they have won two, drawn three, and lost nine of their last 14 matches. In the Premier League they have won just one of their last 11 outings.

Selhurst Park has become more like a prison than a fortress recently as well, with just one of their last nine Premier League games ending in victory. The other eight have all been losses, but against a Middlesbrough side who are pretty torrid going forward away from home, Sam Allardyce might feel there is at least a point on offer here.

Christian Stuani saved Middlesbrough’s blushes last weekend as he scored a late winner against Oxford United in the FA Cup. Boro were 2-0 up at half time but were somehow pegged back by the lower league side in the second half before being saved in the closing stages.

The Premier League shows less promise for the north east club though. They are winless in their last eight league outings and find themselves 16th in the table, just three points above Crystal Palace who reside second from bottom.

Away from home they haven’t won a game since their first trip away of the season against Sunderland, with six of their 11 games since then ending all square. They have scored a miserable six goals in this period, but to be fair to them they have only conceded 12 at the other end. This is showing all the signs of a very low scoring game.

Both of these teams seem completely incapable of getting a win at the moment, and considering six of Middlesbrough’s last 11 away games have been stalemates, odds of 11/5 for a Draw here look very good value. Both sides have been really struggling in front of goal too, so a 0-0 correct score predictions at 6/1 looks the best bet here.
