DC United vs Los Angeles FC Predictions

DC United and LAFC both continued their fine starts to the new season last weekend, and it’s going to be really interesting to see how the pair fair when they go head to head on Saturday. DC United have won their opening two home games without conceding a single goal, while LAFC have scored seven goals on the road and have picked up four points from their trips to New York and San Jose.

Orlando City controlled the majority of their game at home to DC United, with 62% of the possession and twelve shots to their guests three during the ninety minutes. However, it was DC United that opened the scoring in the sixth minute through Birnbaum and then doubled their advantage on the half hour mark through Rooney. Orlando pulled a goal back in the second half, but DC’s defence held firm and the visitors claimed another three points. LAFC thrashed SJ Earthquakes in their own backyard last time out, scoring five times without reply. Vela scored a hat trick and claimed the match ball, while Beitashour and Rossi also got their names on the scoreboard.

The performances of DC United and LAFC in the early stages of the new season lead us to expect an action packed game on Saturday, with the most likely result being a draw. The only previous meeting between these two sides ended in a draw and both teams remain unbeaten in the MLS this season. LAFC have scored seven goals in their two away games this season, but their only dropped points in the MLS this season arrived away from home. DC United have scored nine goals in their four MLS games, while LAFC have scored fifteen goals in their five league matches, so even though we’re backing a draw that doesn’t mean there won;t be plenty of goals on offer.

Rooney is the only DC United player to have scored more than once in the MLS so far, and the former England captain has four goals to his name. Vela is the divisions top scorer with six goals, teammate Rossi has chipped in with three, and Diomande has two goals for the visitors. We’re confident that Saturday’s game will end in a draw, and have predicted a final scoreline of 2-2. Both teams will be looking to maintain their unbeaten starts to the campaign, but with the pair scoring goals at will we can’t see either side keeping a clean sheet in this one.
