Delfin vs CSD Macara Predictions

Saturday’s Ecuadorian Primera Division clash sees Delfin doing battle with Macara. The visitors arrive in strong shape but will have their work cut out travelling to a Delfin side so strong at the Estadio Jocay.

Whilst Delfin haven’t quite hit the heights of last season, in which they reached the final of the overall championship before falling to Emelec, they’re still running along nicely and find themselves in 5th place in the opening phase of action, after claiming 28 points from 19 matches.

With just three matches to play until the first phase ends, Los Auriazules are fully focused on claiming as many points as possible in order to be in the reckoning for a continental place once the season has finished. Fabian Bustos’ men would be far closer to the top of the table but for their wretched away record, but that’ll be no concern for this particular match, given the side have won 8 of their last 9 home games across all competitions, including the last 5.

Nonetheless, Delfin will face a decent challenge as regards getting the 3 points, with Macara arriving in vastly improved form, having won 4 of their last 5 games, seeing Los Celeste shoot up from the lower reaches of the table into 7th place, just 3 points behind their opponents here.

That being said, Macara have looked a poor side throughout the campaign prior to their current hot-streak and such a strong run of results can be explained by the fact that each win has came against teams positioned in the bottom 5.

As such, it’ll be interesting to see if Macara can now go toe to toe with a far stronger side and on the basis of what they’ve shown so far this year, that doesn’t look all that likely. They have lost 4 of their last 9 away games and have only won once this year against a team currently positioned above them and whilst that was Delfin themselves, a repeat of the feat is hard to envisage.

We’re more than happy to back Delfin to win the game and feel they provide good value on the full time result line. They are simply dominant on their own patch and have dispatched of sides with far more quality than the visitors have this time around. Macara’s recent results will surely have generated confidence in their ranks, but they should be brought back down to earth; with a 1-0 home win on the cards, a scoreline well worth backing in addition to our main tip for the fixture.
