Denmark U21 vs Austria U21 Predictions

Denmark’s time in Italy kicked off with a defeat to Germany, but will they be able to bounce back in their second clash? They are taking on an Austria side who have positioned themselves as the rivals to the Germans in Group B. The opening round of matches in this group saw defeats for the Danes and Serbia, with Germany and Austria together on three points. Can the Austrians claim a victory in this clash to keep up their challenge to the Germans?

Denmark were completely outclassed in their clash with Germany, but there’s no great shame in that. They managed to come through the qualifying campaign and emerge as one of the top 12 sides in Europe, which shows that there’s a solid generation coming through. They aren’t quite cutting it at the highest level though, following back to back defeats against Croatia and Denmark.

Austria landed a huge result with their victory against Serbia, a win which has left them in the frame to make the next round. Getting through the group at the Euros is incredibly hard, as the three group winners are joined by just one of the runners-up from the groups. While the tournament benefits from getting straight to the semis, it’s incredibly hard for a side like Austria to break into the knockout round when the giants of international football are so consistent now.

Austria head into this game looking for a second straight win, while they’ve got to build on their 2-0 win against Serbia. That win certainly showed us a side who have goals in midfield, while there’s more to come from forwards Marko Kvasina and Adrian Grbic. Austria finished up qualifying with 25 goals in 10 matches, outscoring Serbia. However, none of their players could outscore Denmark’s outstanding player.

Robert Skov hit eight goals for Denmark as they made their way to Italy. Those eight were among a 30 goal haul for the Danes, while Skov added to his tally with a strike against Germany in the opener. The winger will be out to cause problems here, while his team have scored in their last 12 competitive internationals. With this tournament turning out to be particularly entertaining, we’re backing both teams to score in Thursday’s meeting.
