Derby vs Hull City Predictions

  • Derby have won four of their last six home Championship matches.
  • Hull City have lost seven of their last eleven away Championship fixtures.
  • Hull City have scored just six goals in their last 13 away Championship matches.

Tigers’ schedule could be catching up with them

Hull City have had a hectic schedule of late and there are already signs that it has caught up with them ahead of Tuesday’s crunch clash against an increasingly desperate Derby County. Shota Arveladze’s men began a run of seven games in 22 days on Saturday when they went down 1-0 at home to mid-table Preston.

The Tigers kept going right to the end in search of an equaliser in fairness, but some key players in the squad are in need of a break. Central defenders Sean McLoughlin, Jacob Greaves and Di’ Shon Bernard have had an awful lot of football in recent weeks while winger Keane Lewis-Potter, at the age of 20, has racked up the third-highest amount of playing minutes in the division.

This trip to Pride Park comes after the three-game winning streak they put together to pull clear of the relegation zone has just been ended. It also comes at a time when Derby know anything other than three points could ultimately seal their fate.

Rested Rams have solid home form

The Rams have had double the amount of rest and preparation time than their visitors and really need to take advantage by executing an energetic and effective gameplan for Wayne Rooney. The Derby players have shown tremendous spirit to keep their survival hopes alive this long and need one further push now to catch Reading.

It will probably be decided by one goal, but we rate Derby’s chances here because of their solid recent home form. They fought hard to come back from 2-0 down to rescue a point against Birmingham last time at home, a result which followed three straight wins at Pride Park.

A 1-0 scoreline is the play because Derby have kept clean sheets in six of their last 13 home games while they average just 1.29 goals per Championship game at home in 2021-22.
