      Desportivo Aves vs Feirense Predictions

Relegation rivals Aves and Feirense go head to head in the Primeira Liga on Friday, and with just a point between the two clubs and a victory likely to take the winner out of the drop zone there is certainly plenty to play for. Aves lost a third straight league game on Monday night, while Feirense made it two games without defeat when they draw at home with Santa Clara on Sunday.

Aves gave a good account of themselves away at high flying Moreirense on Monday, but ultimately suffered yet another defeat and dropped to second from bottom in the table. Aves had 48% of the possession away from home, four shots on and four shots off target, but failed to beat Jhonatan in the hosts goal. Moreirense had more corners and more shots during the ninety minutes and always looked the more likely of the two clubs to go on and win the game, but made their fans wait until the seventy-sixth minute before scoring the games only goal through midfielder Ndiaye.

Feirense did well to rescue a draw at home to Santa Clara last time out, after trailing by two goals. The visitors took the lead shortly before the break through Zé Manuel, and then doubled their advantage three minutes into the second half when Bruno Lamas scored his second goal for the club. Feirense began their comeback in the fifty-ninth minute when Edinho converted a penalty, and six minutes later José Valencia struck to level the scores at 2-2. Both teams will argue that they should have won the game, but on the balance of play a draw was probably the fairest of results.

When these two sides met back in April, hosts Aves claimed a 1-0 win. Baldé scored what turned out to be the only goal of the game in the sixth minute and Feirense only had themselves to blame for losing the game after having 56% of the possession, but only managing to get one of their eight shots during the match on target. Aves looked sharper in front of goal and, including the Baldé effort, managed six shots on target during the ninety minutes.

There is nothing between these two clubs in the form guide heading into Friday’s game, with both teams picking up one win, two draws, and suffering three defeats from their last six matches. Both teams have failed to win any of their last four matches in all competitions, so confidence is bound to be low inside both camps. Gomes and Baldé joint top score for Aves this season with three league goals apiece, while Edinho leads the way for Feirense with four Primeira Liga goals to his name.

We’re confident that under 2.5 goals will be scored when these two clubs meet on Friday, and have backed Aves to claim a narrow 1-0 win. Four of the last five meetings between these two clubs have produced under 2.5 goals, while five of Aves’ and three of Feirense’s last six matches have also produced under 2.5 goals. Aves have only lost one of their last four games at home in all competitions, against Porto in the Primeira Liga 1-0, and we’re expecting that decent home record to continue this Friday.
