      Dijon vs Amiens Predictions

Dijon picked up their first league win since January last week as they miraculously beat 3rd placed Lyon 3-1 away from home. It was a miraculous performance as the trickery of Wesley Saïd ran les Gones’ defence ragged. Lyon have been having their own problems with managerial changes and Dijon managed to take full advantage of the situation with some excellent attacking play despite having so little of the possession.

The three points were absolutely vital as they lifted Dijon up to 18th in the league and in place for a relegation play-off if they can remain there until the end of May. It is an extremely tight bottom three with just one point separating them so every point counts. It was very much a performance that came out of nowhere as Dijon had scored just two goals in the nine matches prior before turning on the style in Lyon. We doubt that this will spark Dijon to go on a great run though as they haven’t won back-to-back matches since week three of the season. They had also lost eight and drawn one of their nine matches before the Lyon game so are still in a horrible bout of form. They’ll need to really switch on if they want to win again but face an Amiens side who have impressed in recent weeks.

Amiens currently sit just one place above the relegation zone but have managed to really kick on in recent weeks to give them a seven point gap on Dijon in 18th. They have lost just one of their last eight games, winning three and drawing four, keeping four clean sheets in the process. Their last three games have all been draws but they came against a trio of teams all well above them in the league so Christophe Pélissier will be very pleased with the performances of his men. He will be especially happy that his men took 4th placed Saint-Étienne right to the death last week as les Verts required a late equaliser to snatch a point.

The Unicorns’ form has drastically improved and if they keep it up they will guarantee their survival in the league. Striker Serhou Guirassy is set to return from suspension ahead of this match and his quality will definitely add something to this already solid attack which has scored seven goals in its last six games.

Dijon may have won last week but they have shown time and time again that they are not capable of going on a consistent run of results. Dijon also have the second worst home record in the league and with them welcoming an in-form Amiens side to the Gaston-Gérard, we’re backing an away win here. Amiens won 1-0 when these teams last met in October and we’re backing an identical result here. Dijon have conceded a solitary goal in five of their last seven games and we’re backing that to continue with Amiens winning 1-0.
