Dinamo Tbilisi vs Feyenoord Predictions

Following a 4-0 win in Rotterdam, Feyenoord take a commanding, and possibly unassailable, lead into Thursday’s 2nd leg in Tbilisi, where barring a miracle the Dutch club will progress through to the next round of the Europa League. Dinamo Tbilisi are at their best at home and we’re expecting a much closer ninety minutes on Thursday but we just can’t see how the hosts are going to turn this tie around.

All of the stats point towards a win for Dinamo Tbilisi on Thursday and if Feyenoord decide to rest a few key players ahead of their weekend Eredivisie game against Utrecht, then we can see the Georgian team winning but still back Feyenoord to progress through to the next round.

The form of both teams suggests the hosts are best placed to win on Thursday, as Dinamo Tbilisi have won five of their last six matches, while Feyenoord have only one won of their last six. Admittedly, the visitors one win arrived against Dinamo Tbilisi last week but the Georgian side are much stronger at home and have an excellent defensive record there, with their last five matches at the Boris Paichadze Dinamo Arena ending in victory.

Dinamo Tbilisi have kept five clean sheets in their last six matches so it was a surprise to see them so heavily beaten in the Netherlands and we fully expect Thursday’s match to be much closer, especially as Feyenoord have only kept one clean sheet in their last six attempts and struggled away from home towards the end of the last Eredivisie campaign.

We’re confident that Dinamo Tbilisi will win on Thursday and have predicted a final scoreline of 1-0. The hosts struggled in the 1st leg and with a 4-0 lead, Feyenoord have the option to rest a few of their key players to keep them fresh for the weekend league game against Utrecht, which will be tempting to the visitors as they are still searching for their first Eredivisie win of the season. Tbilisi are strong at home and have kept a lot of clean sheets of late, so while we don’t believe they can turn this tie around, we do expect them to put in a much stronger performance in their own backyard which should claw back some dignity following that 4-0 loss in Rotterdam.
