Djurgarden vs Hacken Predictions

This match sees two of Sweden’s current Europa League participants meet. Djurgarden enter the competition next week while Hacken sealed progress on Thursday night despite a surprise home defeat against Liepāja of Latvia. They have a really tough test in the next round against RB Leipzig but for now at least both sides will be focused on trying to secure maximum points from this game.

Qualifying for Europe again will be the aim for Hacken. They are currently down in 9th place but are only really a decent run of form away from gatecrashing the top six. They come into this game following a poor week though with back-to-back 2-1 defeats including a loss at 3rd placed Norrköping in the Allsvenskan last weekend.

This in theory will be a similar kind of test with Djurgarden currently in 4th. Özcan Melkemichel’s side will fancy they can have something of a say in the title race as we move into the second part of the season. They’ve looked good since returning from the summer break and picked up a key 1-0 away win at fellow top six side Kalmar last weekend.

Overall it is the hosts that look much the more likely victors here. The principal reason for that is Hacken’s miserable away record. They’ve lost 71% of their away league games this season and only two Allsvenskan sides have picked fewer away points than them. The problems have been at both ends of the pitch with just 0.71 goals per game scored on the road while their defence which has kept things pretty tight at home, has failed to replicate that on their travels.

They are up against one of the form teams in this division here so it’s hard to make much of a case for them getting a result. Djurgarden’s last 10 matches have seen them win 8 and draw 2. That includes a few friendlies during the mid-season break but it’s still a mighty impressive return and they’ve won 5 of their last 6 in the Allsvenskan.

They are certainly the team that comes into this with greater momentum and the league table also suggests they have a little bit more quality than their opponents. With home advantage, backing Djurgarden to Win looks like the way to go.

All of Hacken’s 5 away defeats this term have seen them concede exactly twice so going for a 2-1 Djurgarden Win could be the smart move in the Correct Score market.
