Djurgarden vs GIF Sundsvall Predictions, Betting Tips and Match Previews

Djurgarden return to the Tele2 Arena on Sunday as they look to negotiate a busy period of European and domestic action whilst staying in the hunt for the Swedish title. They are only 6 points and 3 places off top spot heading into this weekend when they are the clear bookies favourites to beat GIF Sundsvall.

There was a slightly frustrating night for Djurgarden fans on Thursday as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Mariupol of Ukraine in the Europa League. They now have a really tricky away leg to come next week and may be forced to rotate slightly here. Djurgarden are unbeaten in 9 matches now but they’ve not been totally convincing since the return from the summer break with all of their four matches close affairs.

GIF Sundsvall should be the fresher of the two teams given their lack of European involvement. Sundsvall have also been pretty good in the final third, especially away. They average 1.67 goals per game on their travels compared to just 1.57 overall. Djurgarden meanwhile have only scored 1.53 per game and 1.57 at home, so those figures are very even with the visitors just shading things.

Djurgarden look a little short on the quality required to put Kalmar to the sword here and they have had to work for their home victories this season. Only 29% of their home games have seen them win by 2 goals or more and they’ve been held to draws in 2 of their 3 outings at the Tele2 Arena since returning from the winter break.
