      Doncaster vs Luton Predictions

After losing away at Peterborough a few weeks ago, Luton have got their act together. The newly promoted side first beat Southend, while they’ve since beaten Shrewsbury and drawn against Wycombe on their travels. With some solid results behind them, the visitors should fancy their chances of toppling Doncaster at Keepmoat on Saturday afternoon.

By drawing away from home against the current table-toppers last weekend, Doncaster steadied the ship, though they remain a side out of form. After a flying start, one that masked their true performances, things have quickly gone downhill for Grant McCann’s men. That said, their performance last week was a pleasing one, and in all honesty, Donny should’ve walked away with all three points. They took the lead, created more than their opponents, but they were unable to double their advantage when in the ascendancy, nor could they edge back in front once pegged back.

While manager McCann may have been disappointed not to have left his old stomping ground with all three points last time out, he will have been pleased with the fact that Doncaster played well and offered more in the final third.

In fact, after a few poor performances, especially from an offensive point of view, Doncaster have upped their attacking efforts in recent weeks. Despite not finding the net, they offered a reasonable threat when facing Portsmouth in their penultimate match, while they did plenty going forward at ABAX Stadium last weekend. With John Marquis leading the line, who now has three league goals this season, realistically, Doncaster shouldn’t lack goals, though they do need to ensure that the forward is provided with regular service.

Luton also arrive at this juncture off the back of a reasonable attacking performance last weekend, though considering that their opponents created far more than them, they were lucky to take a share of the spoils. Doncaster haven’t been amazingly secure at the back, so the Hatters could make headway with a similar performance, but they’ll need to sharpen up defensively if they’re to stand any chance of leaving Keepmoat with all three points.

In truth, Luton have performed credibly over the last few weeks. They are giving quite a bit away, though the same can be said for Doncaster, but Nathan Jones’ men are starting to offer more in the final third. They created more than a reasonable amount when notching three against Shrewsbury a few weeks ago, while they were duly rewarded for their efforts with a goal last weekend.

In the betting, ‘Both Teams to Score’ catches the eye. Both teams have started to look more of a threat offensively over the last few weeks, though neither appear to be overly strong at the back. As things stand, both Doncaster and Luton are averaging well over 1.0 expected goals against per match.
