Tense affair expected in Kiev

Dynamo Kiev welcome Club Brugge to NSC Olimpiyskiy on Thursday night in the first leg of their Europa League first knockout round tie.

Dynamo Kiev have performed very well domestically and they currently lead the Ukrainian Premier League by three points. Their European campaign has been less impressive though with the side only collecting four points from six games and failing to make it out of the group stages.

Club Brugge have dominated the Belgian Pro League this season and they hold a 13 point lead over their nearest challengers, as well as a game in hand. They were unlucky not to make the knockout stages of the Champions League, amassing eight points but falling behind Borussia Dortmund and Lazio.

This match looks like it could be a really close tie with the first leg likely to be a tight affair. Brugge are probably the better side but Kiev hold the home advantage and, with temperatures of -15°C expected the playing field is very much levelled. With all of that information, we think both sides could struggle to get to grips with the game and we’re predicting that this game will see under 2.5 goals.

Predicting a correct score is a little harder and, whilst it wouldn’t be a surprise to see both teams find the net, we’re backing a 1-0 victory for Club Brugge in this match.
