East Fife vs Partick Thistle Predictions

Darren Young’s East Fife side ended last season in 6th position but they have put together a much stronger bid for promotion this year with them currently sitting third, just two points behind 2nd placed Raith Rovers who have played one game more than the Fifers. East Fife are also in a much better run of form than Raith as they have won six of their last seven games with a slip up to Airdrie being the only blemish on this near spotless record.

East Fife are a very attractive side in attack with them scoring 17 goals in their last eight matches. They have scored 36 goals in the league this season but these haven’t come through one specific player really with many different members of the team contributing to the attacking side of the game. Six players have scored more than four times which has allowed the team to keep going even when injuries and suspensions have come about. They haven’t been as confident in defence with just three clean sheets in their last 15 games but with them being the third best attacking side in the league, they have managed to win games through their presence up top.

Partick Thistle are also pretty poor at the back and could suffer here against East Fife but they have also recently hit a good run of form as they desperately try to escape the relegation conversation. Gary Caldwell’s men have won each of their last three matches, scoring eight times in the process as they have beaten both Queen of the South (5th) and Inverness (4th) in quick succession. They really stunned these teams and picked up six crucial points to get them within one point of safety.

It hasn’t been a great year for Partick but they finally seem on the up which will make this game extremely exciting, given Fife’s mutual upturn in form. East Fife don’t have a great home record with two wins in their last five at the Bayview Stadium but face a Partick side who also haven’t been ripping it up on the road with just win in their last five away games. East Fife suffered a scare in their last game as they had to battle hard for a 4-3 victory over 7th placed Stranraer but Partick have also faced the Blues in recent weeks, beating them 4-1. As a result, we’re going to back Partick to win this as they are a much better side now to the team that lost narrowly to East Fife at the start of the season (1-2). The Fifers have also shown their weaknesses at home with Airdrie getting the better of them a few weeks ago so we’re going to back a 2-1 win for the visitors as both teams have scored in each of Partick’s last six games and in four of Fife’s last five.
