      East Fife vs Rangers Predictions

League One side will host Rangers at Bayview Stadium on Sunday as they attempt to cause an early upset in the Scottish League Cup. Can the Gers crush that dream?

After a fairly strong start to their pre-season campaign, East Fife have struggled in the last few weeks and are winless since the last week in July. The Fifers come into this difficult tie following a 2-0 defeat when they hosted Stirling Albion in the Challenge Cup on Tuesday.

Darren Young’s side was surprisingly unable to overcome the League Two side that scored the opening goal in the 37th minute and closed it with just under 20 minutes left. It was East Fife’s first defeat since losing 2-0 in the League Cup opener against Cowdenbeath, and the Mithil club has since won twice, drawn 3 times- twice in the league- and lost their most recent outing against the aforementioned Stirling Albion.

Ranger continued their impressive and explosive start to the season with yet another comfortable win during the week in the return leg of their Europa League qualifier tie with Midtjylland. The Gers ran out 3-1 winners at Ibrox thanks to an Alfredo Morelos double- who contributed to 6 of the 7 goals Rangers scored against the Danish side- and another goal from Sheyji Ojo.

The Glasgow club has also come from a terrific performance when they destroyed Hibs 6-1 in the league last weekend, so there’s no denying the firepower Steven Gerrard’s side have upfront. Moreover, the Gers are undefeated so far this season in all competitions, including friendlies. They’ve won 10 of their12 games so far, drawing twice to Progrès Niederkorn and Blackburn Rovers.

Rangers are on a fantastic run at the moment, and there seems to be no other outcome other than a win here for the Blues. East Fife will try their very best to cause an upset, but the gulf in quality, as well as the divisions that separate the sides, will be too much for the hosts to handle. However, Rangers have conceded at least once in their last 4 games, so we could see East Fife score against the run of play, but ultimately the Gers will likely come out on top. We’re going to back Rangers to win & both teams to score, with a final result of 4-1.
