England vs Iceland Predictions

  • Iceland have lost all nine of their UEFA Nations League matches.
  • England have conceded in three of their last four matches.
  • Iceland have scored in five of their last six games, losing 2-1 in each of their last three games.

Youngsters hope to get chance to impress

England’s hopes of qualifying for the UEFA Nations League Finals next year were brought crashing down around them on Sunday as they slumped to a 2-0 defeat away to Belgium, putting themselves out of the running for the top spot heading into the final game.

With nothing but pride on the line on Wednesday, we could see a more experimental lineup from Gareth Southgate and that could play into the Three Lions’ hands. Their squad is full of young talent all hoping to make an impression in the build up to Euro 2020, and that hunger could prove beneficial.

Iceland’s rotten form to continue

Iceland aren’t expected to put up much of a fight on Wednesday either. They have moved up in the world rankings in recent years, but they have lost all nine of their UEFA Nations League matches and head into this game having lost six of their last seven in all competitions.

Away from home they have lost three on the trot since a 2-1 victory over Moldova a year ago, but it is worth noting that they have scored in all three of these defeats.

Goals at both ends expected at Wembley

In fact, Iceland have found the net in five of their last six games and should be able to trouble an England defence that have only kept one clean sheet in their last four. However, with so many defeats under their belt England are still likely to emerge triumphant and a bet of England to win and both teams to score looks excellent value.

Each of Iceland’s last three games have ended in 2-1 defeats as well while England have scored two or more goals in three of their last five matches, making a 2-1 correct score prediction our preferred option.
