Estudiantes LP vs Velez Sarsfield Predictions

Tuesday’s Superliga Argentina sees Estudiantes going up against Velez Sarsfield. Both sides will be looking to make a strong start to the year but Estudiantes’ home advantage could prove the decisive factor.

Estudiantes come into the game in 14th place, having taken just 18 points from the 15 games they’ve played so far. Los Pincharratas started the campaign in very poor fashion but made slight improvement in the weeks prior to the mid-season break, coming into this one having lost just 1 of their last 9 Superliga outings.

Nonetheless, they’ve also won just 3 of said matches and improvement certainly needs to be found in the remaining 10 matches if the side are to challenge for a continental spot. Typically stronger on home soil, and having won 2 of their last 3 matches there, confidence can at least be relatively high coming into Tuesday game and maximum points is undoubtedly the target.

Nonetheless, most of Velez’s good work has been done on home territory and that has to be a big concern with this trip to La Plata in mind. Ultimately, it should be quite a tight game and we fully expect Estudiantes to match Velez, despite being considerably below them in the table. Velez are where they are due to their home form and are actually quite a weak outfit away from home.

As such, the odds on offer really make little sense and in no way should the visitors be sizeable favourites. Estudiantes are a considerable force in front of their own fans and we see great value in backing them on the Draw No Bet line. The hosts have won 2 of their last 3 games as hosts by a 1-0 margin and that’s a scoreline that could will be repeated come full time in this one. At worst, Estudiantes shouldn’t lose the match but we believe they’ll be able to edge the win.
