Exeter City vs Bury Predictions

On any given weekend during the league season, there are plenty of games up and down the country which can stand out as having the potential to steal the show and be the best game on offer in a division. One of the contenders for this title in League Two is the clash between two promotion rivals as Exeter City welcome Bury to St James Park.

Exeter City have only lost one of their last six league games and will hope to avenge the 2-0 defeat they suffered against Bury in December. It has been a difficult road for the Grecians after they sold Jayden Stockley in the January transfer window and their goal output has suffered ever since, but they have started to turn a corner and after recent results, it appears as though they are back to the side which is capable of challenging for promotion.

Three points could take Bury up to second in the League Two table and the Shakers are in fine form having not lost in their last 10 matches. It has been an excellent start to 2019 for the visitors and it has come largely down to their impressive form in front of goal. Bury lead the charts in terms of goals scored in League Two with 62 goals scored in their 32 matches, which is seven more than anyone else has managed in the division. That goal output has only been getting bigger of late as they have scored 13 times in their last five league matches.

Although Exeter have been nicking games of late with one or two goals, we think the signs are there that they are starting to increase this output. It is a good job too, as their visitors are free-scoring at the moment, which leads us to believe that backing there to be over 2.5 goals scored represents the best opportunity for a decent return.

We are not done there though, as although the hosts have been improving of late, the form of the visitors is simply too hard to ignore. Therefore, should you wish to chase a higher return, we think that backing an away win and combining it with our initial tip of over 2.5 goals is an excellent opportunity to do just that.
