FC Cincinnati vs Sporting Kansas City Predictions

Cincinnati and Sporting KC have both made decent starts to the new MLS season, which should make for an entertaining game when the pair lock horns on Sunday. The hosts were beaten last time out at home to Philadelphia, while their guests recorded an impressive 7-1 win over Canadian outfit Montreal Impact.

Cincinnati were outplayed in their own backyard by Philadelphia Union, having less possession and fewer shots during the ninety minutes. Two second half goals proved enough for the visitors to claim a deserved three points, as Cincinnati lost for the second time this season. Goals from Russell, Németh, and Gutiérrez saw Sporting KC lead 3-0 at the break against Montreal Impact. Russell netted his second of the game early in the second half and Németh made it 5-0 in the sixty-eighth minute. Busio added a sixth before Németh completed his hat trick in the eighty-fourth minute, and despite Taïder pulling a goal back for the visitors late on it did nothing to ruin the day for the home fans.

The performances of these two clubs in recent weeks points towards Sporting KC taking something from Sunday’s match, with goals being scored by both teams. Cincinnati have lost three of their last five matches, while Sporting KC have won three of their last four and remain unbeaten during that period. Over 2.5 goals have been scored in three of Cincinnati’s and four of Sporting KC’s last six matches. Both teams have scored in four of Sporting KC’s last six matches, and that coupled with all of the above is why we’re expecting plenty of goals to be scored on Sunday. Sporting’s unbeaten run suggests a double chance bet on the visitors is well worth backing this weekend.

Nobody in the Cincinnati squad has scored more than one goal in the MLS so far this season, while Németh has cored four times for Sporting KC and former Derby county man Russell is has netted three times. We’re confident that Sporting KC will take something from Sunday’s trip to Cincinnati and have backed the visitors with a double chance bet, and for the scoreline to end 3-2. Sporting KC are unbeaten in their last four matches and scored seven goals last time out against Montreal Impact, while Cincinnati were beaten in their last home game by Philadelphia Union.
