FC Dallas vs Colorado Rapids Predictions

Dallas suffered their first defeat of the new MLS season last weekend which saw them drop to seventh in the Western Conference table, but Saturday’s hosts will be hoping for an immediate return to winning ways when they take on Colorado Rapids. The visitors haven’t won any of their opening three games, despite enjoying a positive pre-season, and only managed a draw at home last time out.

Dallas gave a decent account of themselves away at Columbus Crew on Saturday and probably deserved a point for their efforts. However, a tenth minute strike from Sauro proved enough for the hosts to claim all three points in a tight and tense game at the MAPFRE Stadium. Colorado Rapids came so close to securing their first victory of the season when they played host to Sporting KC, but Rubio’s fifty-fourth minute opener for the home side was cancelled out with two minutes left on the clock by a Russell effort, though much of the blame lies at the feet of Blomberg, who was sent-off a minute before the visitors equalised.

The performances of these two teams during the early stages of the new season and their recent head to head meetings all point towards both teams scoring in Saturday’s game and the likelihood of a home win for Dallas. Both teams have scored in four of the last six meetings between these two clubs, and Dallas are unbeaten in their last four home games against Colorado Rapids. Both teams have scored in four of Dallas’ last six and four of Colorado Rapids’ last five matches, and the visitors are yet to win in the MLS this season and their hosts are yet to lose at home. Dallas outperformed Colorado Rapids in the MLS last season and the way the opening three games of the new campaign have gone, it looks like a similar story is developing in 2019.

Acosta, Barrios, and Ziegler have all scored one goal in the MLS for Dallas so far this season, while Feilhaber, Kamara, Rubio, and Shinyashiki have all netted once for Colorado Rapids with three games played. We’re confident that both teams will score on Saturday, and have backed the scoreline to end 2-1 in favour of the hosts Dallas. Dallas outperformed Colorado Rapids last season and remain unbeaten in their first two home games of 2019, while their guests are yet to win in the MLS home or away. This fixture has seen both teams score more often than not over the last few seasons and both teams have been scoring and conceding on a regular basis over their last six matches.
