FC Dallas vs Montreal Impact Predictions

  • FC Dallas got off to a winning start to the 2020 season, picking up a 2-0 win over Philadelphia Union.
  • Montreal Impact also got off to a great start, beating New England Revolution 2-1 at Saputo Stadium.
  • Dallas managed to create 10 chances last weekend with 60% of those being on target.
  • Montreal were able to create 12 chances last weekend but just three of those were on target.

Another home game for Dallas could give them perfect start

Dallas had a fantastic first week of the season as they picked up all three points in a 2-0 win against Philadelphia Union. They continue their campaign with another home game as Montreal Impact become the second Eastern Conference side to visit Toyota Stadium. Last week’s result was very encouraging for the side as they created 10 chances with six of those being on target.

Luchi Gonzalez has set his side up in a 4-2-3-1 formation to begin the season with Barrios and Picault being the wide men. They look to build from deep positions and then get the ball into the box. This worked well with Ondrasek benefitting with a goal to open his account for the new season. Dallas don’t look as though they will end up contesting for the title but they look solid and could well add another win to their record.

Thierry Henry enjoyed a good start to his MLS coaching career

Montreal Impact picked up a win in their first game of 2020 thanks to a late Maxi Urruti goal. They were lucky to come away with all three points however with their opponents, New England Revolution, creating more chances and looking like the side more likely to find the win for much of the game. Montreal were able to have 12 shots during that game but only three with on target and they’ll need to be more ruthless in attack if they want to continue winning games.

Henry looked to use a 3-4-2-1 formation that used the pace of Brault-Guillard and Corrales on either way to get up and down the pitch. This worked to a certain degree but they were often caught out in behind. Taider was deployed in a much deeper position than expected but was moved higher up the pitch as the second half wore on which saw the output of the side increase and a similar move could benefit the side this weekend.

Both sides hoping to add a second win to their season

These two sides enjoyed their wins on opening weekend but at least one of them will be disappointed this time around in what should be a tough game for both teams. Dallas looked to be the better side in the opening round of fixtures though and that should give them the slight edge, especially against a Montreal side that were lucky in their win and still look to be finding their feet as a squad. For those reasons, we’re backing FC Dallas to win on the full time market.

Dallas looked good in attack against Philadelphia Union and that looks like it may well continue as the season moves forward. We’re anticipating them winning this weekend and we think it might be a fairly routine victory for them with Montreal struggling in their first trip away from home this season. We’re predicting that Dallas will run out fairly comfortable 2-0 win.
