FC Dallas vs Real Salt Lake Predictions

Dallas and Real Salt Lake have played to a very similar standard so far this season and head into Sunday’s encounter just one place and two points apart. Hosts Dallas sit higher in the Western Conference table but it’s the visitors that claim the title of form favourites after picking up three wins, two draws, and suffering just one defeat from their last six matches.

Dallas made the trip to Kansas last weekend where a thirty-seventh-minute effort from Badji saw the visitors leading Sporting KC 1-0 at the interval. The hosts controlled the possession in the second half and created chances to equalise but shortly before the hour mark, Dallas struck a killer second goal through Ferreira to wrap up a 2-0 victory.

Real Salt lake had the home advantage when they took on Minnesota United on Sunday where despite controlling the possession and creating more goalscoring opportunities the hosts could not carve out the opening goal and the teams went in at the break goalless. With a rare attack on goal, Minnesota United took the lead in the fiufty=seventh minute but Real Salt Lake responded well and rescued a share of the spoils via a seventieth-minute effort from Silva.

The recent head to head record between these two clubs and both side’s performances over the last six weeks suggests that we will not see both teams score on Sunday. There has been a clean sheet for one or both teams in three of the last seven encounters between Dallas and Real Salt Lake. Both teams have scored in just one of Dallas’ and two of real Salt Lake’s last six matches. Under 2.5 goals have been scored in five of Dallas’ and five of Real Salt Lake’s last six matches in all competitions, which is why we have decided to back a 0-0 draw between the pair this weekend.

Badji and Ferreira both scored last weekend to move onto six league goals each for Dallas this season, while Johnson top scores for Real Salt Lake with eight MLS goals. We’re confident that we will not see both teams score on Sunday and have predicted a final scoreline of 0-0 between the pair. Both teams have been keeping a lot of clean sheets or have failed to score in recent matches, and with the pair so close in the table we believe the sides will cancel each other out this weekend.
