FC Den Bosch vs Sparta Rotterdam Predictions

After three consecutive league defeats, Den Bosch got back to winning ways with a 3-1 success over Jong PSV on Monday to regain 4th place in the Eerste Divisie table. Whilst their title challenge may have petered out tamely, The Blue White Dragons will be hoping that they can push for promotion in the Play-offs in just a few weeks’ time and a win here against 2nd placed Sparta Rotterdam would do their confidence no end of good.

Den Bosch endured a miserable March with defeats suffered against NEC (5-0), Telstar (3-4) and Twente (1-0), but after an improved display in the latter, they managed to earn a decent 3-1 victory at home to Jong PSV on Monday thanks largely to a double salvo from Vincent Vermeij.

Wil Boessen’s side turn out again at Stadion De Vliert this Friday, for what should be the standout fixture on match day 33 against 2nd placed Sparta Rotterdam.

The hosts are likely to really go for the three points in this one as they try and rebuild their momentum ahead of the Play-offs, and they will no doubt be keen to get one over on Henk Fraser’s side who they could well face again in May.

Sparta were comfortable 2-0 winners in September’s reverse fixture at Het Kasteel, but that was well before Den Bosch racked up a tremendous streak of 16 matches without defeat.

At their best, The Blue White Dragons are definitely a side worthy of a place in Eredivisie next term, but their overall form in recent weeks would leave them with a bit to find against this solid Sparta team who have been in scintillating form since mid-February.

Sparta could easily have taken their foot off the gas with a Play-off place already secured, but they have actually gone the other way since falling well adrift of leaders Twente.

Fraser’s side eased past MVV 2-0 in Rotterdam on Monday to make it seven wins and a draw from their last eight league outings, and crucially here their away form has significantly improved.

Sparta have won three of their last four on the road and are unbeaten in eight on their travels – a run which makes them difficult to oppose in s-Hertogenbosch this Friday.

Their aforementioned September win against Den Bosch was their third successive triumph in games between the pair, and we see this one going the same way.

Den Bosch should make a decent fist of this after Monday’s morale boosting win against Jong PSV, but the visitors are more consistent and they have greater quality throughout their starting line-up.

At around even money, Sparta warrant a two point stake here and we’re also going for a 1-3 correct score in favour of the Rotterdam outfit.
