FC Dordrecht vs AZ Reserves Predictions

Dordrecht face off against Jong AZ on match day ten, and we should be set for a free scoring encounter at Riwal Hoogwerkers Stadion. These two sides have been woeful at the back this term, conceding an average of two goals per game – and that’s the main reason why they’re both languishing at the wrong end of the table. Dordrecht managed to claim their first win of the season on match day eight with a shock 3-1 success over Cambuur, but progress for Gerard de Nooijer’s side was swiftly halted in s-Hertogenbosch last week as 5^th placed Den Bosch landed the spoils 1-0.

It wasn’t a bad performance from Dordrecht by any means compared to some of their efforts earlier in the campaign, but the result ultimately means that the club are rooted to the foot of the Eerste Divisie table heading into match day ten.

Dordrecht have lost all five of their away trips this term, so they’ll be relieved to be returning to Riwal Hoogwerkers Stadion this Friday where they beat Jong AZ 3-2 last season.

De Nooijer’s side go into this fixture as favourites based on their aforementioned victory over Cambuur last time out at home, and a repeat of that performance could be enough here against a Jong AZ outfit who’ve scraped just two points together from a possible 12 on the road.

Michel Vonk’s charges are 16^th in the standings and three points ahead of Friday’s hosts after drawing 2-2 at home to Jong Utrecht last week, as Eerste Divisie leading scorer Ferdy Druijf bagged his ninth and tenth goals of the campaign.

With just one win on the board from nine outings and four games drawn, Jong have really underachieved so far considering the potent weapon they have at their disposal in the shape of Druijf, and it would be no surprise should they lose his services soon to the senior AZ Alkmaar team.

Druijf has netted all but four of Jong’s 14 goals, which should’ve been good enough to secure more than their modest seven point haul.

However, Vonk’s side have been atrocious at the back in conceding 18 goals, and they’ve shipped two goals or more in seven of their nine league games this term.

Dordrecht have suffered similar problems though in defence with 19 conceded thus far, and it would be a surprise if talisman Druijf couldn’t cash in on the hosts’ fragilities.

With Jong AZ’s last five league assignments featuring more than 3.5 goals, we’re opting for the same outcome here, as it’s difficult to trust either team to get the job done with just two victories between them from a combined 18 matches.
