FC Dordrecht vs Cambuur Leeuwarden Predictions

Cambuur slipped to their first defeat of the campaign at home to Roda JC last week, and the Leeuwarden outfit will be seeking to bounce straight back on match day eight as they visit Riwal Hoogwerkers Stadion to take on a struggling Dordrecht side who’ve lost their last six in Eerste Divisie. Can Rene Hake’s team return to winning ways to pile more pressure on home boss Gerard de Nooijer?

This fixture couldn’t have arrived at a better time for Cambuur, whose unbeaten run came to an end on match day seven with a 0-1 defeat to Roda JC at Cambuurstadion.

Rene Hake’s side dropped out of the Eerste Divisie top five as a result, but with four of those teams taking each other on this week, a win here for the Leeuwarden outfit should see them move back into a Play-off spot.

After a fantastic start to the season, Cambuur have now drawn a blank in their last two league fixtures having also been held to a 0-0 draw at Jong Utrecht on match day six. Hake’s side progressed in the Dutch Cup last week, but their 2-3 win over minnows Scheveningen was unconvincing to say the least.

So there’s a slight concern that Cambuur’s form is tapering off after their strong early results, but that shouldn’t stop them from getting back on the winning trail here.

Dordrecht have been diabolical this term. Gerard de Nooijer’s men are rooted to the foot of the table with just a single point to their name, and that came via a drab 0-0 stalemate at home to current 18th placed side Helmond Sport on the opening night.

It means the hosts go into Friday’s game on a six match losing streak in the league, and a seven match losing run in all competitions having been dumped out of the KNVB Beker by Almere City last week.

Dordrecht’s latest league defeat (3-2 at Sparta Rotterdam) was arguably their best performance of the campaign to date, but it really is hard to see a way forward at the moment for de Nooijer’s side who are leaking goals left right and centre (17 conceded in seven outings).

It’s hard to believe that Dordrecht reached the Play-offs in 2017/18 based on this season’s performances, and they of course beat Cambuur on penalties in the 1st Round after a 5-5 aggregate draw.

That could play on the minds of Cambuur this Friday, but it’s quite clear that the hosts are a much weaker proposition at the moment.

Cambuur may struggle to keep up with the bigger clubs and main promotion contenders in the weeks to come, but we’re siding with them to get the job done here with a win to nil. That’s been the outcome in the previous five regular season contests between the teams, whilst Cambuur have kept a clean sheet in four of their seven league fixtures this term. This should be comfortable for the visitors, and we’re also going for a 0-3 score line at Riwal Hoogwerkers Stadion.
