FC Dordrecht vs Go Ahead Eagles Predictions

Dordrecht had been making pretty solid progress under new boss Claudio Braga but their defensive woes resurfaced last week as FC Eindhoven hammered eight goals past them at Jan Louwers Stadion. Schappenkoppen’s confidence will undoubtedly have taken a huge blow after such a vicious beating and 3rd placed Go Ahead Eagles will view this contest as the ideal opportunity to bounce back following a 1-2 defeat to leaders Twente on match day 30.

After three wins from six including a 3-2 victory over Roda JC on match day 29, Dordrecht will have been more than hopeful of snatching a result against FC Eindhoven last Friday, but Blauw-witten didn’t read the script.

The game was remarkably level at 0-0 35 minutes in but as soon as Elton Kabangu broke the deadlock for Eindhoven, the floodgates blew wide open. Kabangu helped himself to a hat-trick in just over ten minutes and Dordrecht found themselves on the end of an 8-1 hiding at the final whistle.

A freak result perhaps, but it marks the biggest win of the Eerste Divisie campaign overall and Dordrecht’s abysmal showing means they simply cannot be fancied to trouble Go Ahead Eagles this week.

Eagles were well in the title race going into the Christmas break but an indifferent 2019 has seen them drop out of contention. John Stegeman’s side have won four, drawn three and lost four of their last 11 outings and they were held to a 1-1 draw by lowly Helmond Sport a fortnight ago which was arguably their worst display of the campaign.

Go Ahead were beaten 1-2 by leaders Twente at De Adelaarshorst on Sunday but that result was no disgrace considering how much daylight the Enschede outfit have established on the rest and Eagles remain 3rd in the Eerste Divisie table as they prepare for their trip to Riwal Hoogwerkers Stadion.

Stegeman’s side haven’t been the most reliable team on the road this term with seven wins, three draws and five defeats posted from 15 fixtures but they are a cut above Dordrecht in every department and should confirm that here.

The hosts may have beaten Roda on their own patch a fortnight ago but that was their first home win in seven and they have lost eight times overall this season from 15 games at Riwal Hoogwerkers Stadion.

Eagles won November’s reverse fixture 2-1 in Deventer and we foresee this being potentially much easier for them following Dordrecht’s disaster on match day 30.

Nonetheless, the visitors are well enough priced in the match betting and we’re recommending a safer play here with a three point stake on them just to bag the three points. However, with our main wager looking solid, we’re also chancing a 1-4 correct score for Eagles at long odds.
