FC Dordrecht vs PSV Reserves Predictions

Dordrecht put a 2-6 drubbing at the hands of Den Bosch behind them to pinch a 0-1 success at Jong AZ last weekend, and Claudio Braga’s side will now be hoping to string a few positive results together after climbing off the bottom of the table. They face a stern test at Riwal Hoogwerkers Stadion this Monday though against an improving Jong PSV team who have lost just one of their last nine league outings to move up 6th in the standings.

Dordrecht are amongst a clutch of four sides that are thoroughly detached from the rest 21 games into the Eerste Divisie season, but Schappenkoppen will be feeling positive after beating fellow strugglers Jong AZ 0-1 in Alkmaar last weekend.

It was a typical bottom of the table scrap at AFAS Stadion with quality at a premium, but Dordrecht emerged victorious thanks to a late second half winner from Renny Piers.  The resilience shown will have pleased new boss Claudio Braga after his side’s 2-6 thumping against leaders Den Bosch on match day 20, and the Portuguese will no doubt feel relieved to get his first win on the board since taking over from caretaker Scott Calderwood.

That’s actually two wins in six now for Dordrecht following a 2-0 home triumph over RKC at the end of November, and those successes should at least give fans hope that their side can enjoy more success in the second half of the season.

Overall though, Dordrecht’s form and results do little to suggest that they can trouble Jong PSV this Monday, with the visitors currently enjoying a really decent spell.

Dennis Haar’s charges have won five, drawn three and lost just one of their last nine games, and they head to Riwal Hoogwerkers Stadion unbeaten in their last six outings on the road.

Last week’s 2-2 draw at home to MVV will have frustrated the Eindhoven dressing room after they failed to force a winner against ten men, but the Jong attack should have no trouble breaching a Dordrecht back line that’s conceded 43 times already this term, with 13 of those shipped in the four matches prior to Schappenkoppen’s rare clean sheet last week.

Dordrecht managed a 2-2 draw at De Herdgang when these sides met in October, but that was before Jong PSV truly got their act together. Jong had won the four previous meetings between the teams, and we envisage a similar outcome this Monday.

So we’re confidently backing the visitors to win this but with both teams to score as well – which has been the outcome in four of the last five meetings between the teams.

Dordrecht have averaged one goal per game at home this season and can maintain that ratio against a Jong defence that’s conceded 24 goals in their 10 away fixtures.

We don’t feel that will affect the result though – Jong are top scorers in the division with 48 netted thus far, and we think they’ll blast their way through the hosts at will, with 1-4 our predicted scoreline.
