FC Eindhoven vs Cambuur Leeuwarden Predictions

With both of these sides sitting just off the Play-off pace, this is one of the most important fixtures in Eerste Divisie on match day 35 with a vital three points on offer at Jan Louwers Stadion. A win for the 13th placed hosts will draw them level with 11th placed Cambuur, and they will then fancy their chances to qualify with games against Helmond Sport and Jong AZ to come. Can David Nascimento’s side move into contention or will Cambuur strengthen their credentials for a top nine finish?

After winning five of their last seven Eerste Divisie matches, it’s undoubtedly Cambuur who come into this one in better nick and they had a fairly easy assignment against bottom side Jong Utrecht on match day 34.

Rene Hake’s charges strolled to a resounding 4-1 victory in Leeuwarden to move back up to 11th spot in the table – and that could well be good enough to qualify for the Play-offs with ineligible teams Jong Ajax and Jong PSV currently sitting in the top nine.

Cambuur know they will need to collect more points though in the run in with several teams queuing up behind them, and getting some kind of result this Friday looks hugely important for them with difficult fixtures against 5th placed Den Bosch and champions elect Twente to come.

They head into this Friday’s clash as slight underdogs though and that’s largely due to FC Eindhoven’s 1-3 triumph in November’s reverse contest.

Blauw-witten were fairly authoritative winners on the day in Leeuwarden, and that has to play on the minds of the Cambuur players here.

Nonetheless, Eindhoven have to pick themselves up after a disappointing 1-2 defeat at home to Roda JC last week, and the pressure is arguably on them to force the issue as they are two points worse off than the visitors in the league table.

The hosts can really turn things on at Jan Louwers Stadion when they want to as typified by a brutal 8-1 hammering of Dordrecht in late March, however an overall home record of five wins, five draws and seven defeats this term emphasises that consistency isn’t really their bag.

This looks too tight to call with plenty at stake and on reflection there is very little between the two sides. So from a punting perspective it seems best to focus on the goals markets, and the last four meetings have produced over 2.5 goals with both teams scoring. That’s our recommended wager for this Friday’s action in Eindhoven and we’re also opting for a 2-2 correct score.
