FC Eindhoven vs PSV Reserves Predictions

Two of Eerste Divisie’s most in form sides square off at Jan Louwers Stadion this Friday evening as FC Eindhoven host cross city rivals Jong PSV.  This hasn’t been a kind fixture for Blauw-witten in recent times, with the PSV reserves gaining the upper hand in the last six meetings between the pair, including a 2-1 success at De Herdgang on match day one. But David Nascimento’s men will be feeling supremely confident about forcing a different outcome this time around, after winning five league matches on the spin to move into the Play-off places.

FC Eindhoven are getting better by the week, and they belied odds of over 3/1 last Friday to turn over 3rd placed Go Ahead Eagles 0-1 at De Adelaarshorst, despite having been reduced to ten men mid-way through the second half following the dismissal of Belgian Siebe van der Heyden.

Elisha Sam was the hero for Blauw-witten, scoring the late winner against the run of play to send FC Eindhoven up to 9th in the table and into the Play-off places.

The result backed up a tremendous 2-0 home success over 2nd placed Den Bosch a fortnight ago, and right now it would take a brave punter to bet against David Nascimento’s charges. As well as winning their last five, they’ve secured maximum points in eight of their last ten outings – form which puts them right up there with the automatic promotion chasers.

And with those consecutive victories against top three opposition on their dance card, it’s no surprise that the bookies make FC Eindhoven favourites at around evens for Friday’s contest at Jan Louwers Stadion.

Nonetheless, Jong PSV have been in fine fettle of late too. Monday’s 3-1 home triumph against Oss made it four wins and two draws from their last six outings and Dennis Haar’s young side are now up to 5th in the table – the same position which they achieved in the 2017/18 campaign.

Jong’s overall away record this term looks patchy at a basic glance with four wins, four draws and three defeats posted from 11 games on the road, but all of those losses came early on in the season when Jong were amidst a real slump.

Haar’s men are actually unbeaten in seven now on their travels, and their last three away victories have been by a two goal margin (3-5 vs RKC, 2-4 vs Telstar and 1-3 vs Dordrecht).

So Jong will be equally positive about getting a result here as they seek to extend their unbeaten run in the league to seven, and they’ll want to further enhance their head to head dominance after racking up a sequence of six straight wins against Blauw-witten.

It all leaves little between the teams then heading into Friday’s clash, and we can’t make a strong enough case to suggest that either side is going to get beaten.

So with odds of around the 3/1 mark offered up, taking the draw looks the best option for this one, albeit for minimum stakes. There should be plenty of goals as tends to be the case with all Jong PSV matches, so we’re also putting up 2-2 as a tentative correct score prediction at a big price.
