FC Eindhoven vs Roda JC Predictions

Roda JC haven’t lost to FC Eindhoven in three previous competitive meetings (W2, D1), but they won’t be well fancied to prolong that record when the teams face each other at Jan Louwers Stadion on match day 34. The Kerkrade outfit have picked up just two points from their last seven away games, whilst the hosts are unbeaten in their last six Eerste Divisie outings.

A goal from Branco van den Boomen ensured that FC Eindhoven claimed a share of the spoils against MVV at De Geusselt last week, and the 1-1 draw keeps David Nascimento’s side within touching distance of the Play-off places with five games of the regular season to play.

Blauw-witten have now amassed 12 points from their last six league matches and are seemingly peaking at just the right time in the campaign to keep hopes of ending their lengthy stay in the second tier alive.

They have won their last two at home, including an 8-1 thumping of Dordrecht in late March, so this Friday’s contest will clearly be no easy task for Roda who are looking to rediscover their best form under new manager Eric van der Luer.

It’s been a decent enough start points-wise for van der Luer with four gained from a possible six, however their 2-1 win over Jong Utrecht on match day 32 was largely a struggle and they drew a blank at Parkstad Limburg Stadion last week in a 0-0 stalemate with RKC.

Van der Luer’s main task is to address Roda’s atrocious performances and results on the road, and they head into this week’s fixture having drawn two and lost five of their last seven away – including a 4-0 hiding at lowly Helmond Sport a fortnight ago.

It remains to be seen whether van der Luer can galvanise his charges to finish in the Play-offs and they are only a point behind at present, but Roda simply can’t be backed at the moment, based on how badly they have faded in recent weeks.

Momentum is key at this stage of the season and FC Eindhoven certainly have that on their side here. It’s important to remember that they started the campaign with five straight defeats so they have done extremely well to claw themselves into Play-off contention and 11th place arguably understates how good they are.

Based on recent form, the hosts are more like a top six team and we think that they will show their class at Jan Louwers Stadion this week. A win for either side could be enough to propel them into the top nine come the final whistle but it’s FC Eindhoven who we fancy to emerge victorious via a 2-0 scoreline.
