FC Oss vs Maastricht Predictions

Oss are still clinging onto a Play-off place in 7th, but their position is looking increasingly precarious after picking up just one win in their last eight Eerste Divisie games.  12th placed MVV are one of several teams stacked up in behind waiting to pounce, and Ron Elsen’s in form side can leapfrog TOP in the standings this Friday with a win at Frans Heesen Stadion.

Oss dropped away to 15th after a highly promising start last term, and history now appears to be repeating itself this time around.

Klaas Wels’ side have made a woeful start to 2019 with just a solitary point gained from four matches, and they folded tamely in a 3-1 defeat at Jong PSV last week. Having lost just three of their opening 15 games, TOP have blotted their copybook a further five times in their last eight outings, and things are looking bleak despite the fact they remain 7th in the Eerste Divisie table.

That position means little for now in the grand scheme of things considering they’re only two points ahead of 12th placed MVV who they face this week, and a further defeat here will almost certainly see Oss fall out of the Play-off places.

The hosts have been priced up as favourites for this clash at around 6/5, but those odds look extremely questionable based on the above and the fact Oss are searching for their first win at Frans Heesen Stadion since beating Almere City 2-0 in mid-November. TOP have won just four of their 11 at home overall, and MVV will feel that their opponents are ripe for the picking.

MVV have been hovering around mid-table for much of the campaign, but Ron Elsen’s charges finally seem to have gathered some impetus based on their performances since the festive break.

The Maastricht outfit kicked off 2019 with a 0-2 defeat against leaders Twente at De Geusselt, but they then forced a respectable 2-2 at 5th placed Jong PSV despite playing a sizeable portion of that game with ten men.

That effort has clearly spurred MVV on over the last fortnight and successive wins against Helmond Sport (3-0) and Telstar (2-0) have brought Elsen’s side right back into Play-off contention.

With five victories, four draws and two defeats from 11 fixtures on the road, MVV have been pretty solid and reliable on their travels this season and they’ll view this Friday’s contest as a decent opportunity to secure another three points.

And although Oss ran out 0-2 winners when the teams met at De Geusselt on match day one, we feel there’s enough in MVV’s favour to warrant backing them this Friday at just under the 2/1 mark.

The host’s appear devoid of any confidence or direction at present whilst the visitors are starting to gain some decent momentum, so the bookies seem to have called this one incorrectly. It should be a tight encounter, with the sides keeping 17 clean sheets between them this term, so we’re going for a 0-1 correct score alongside our main match bet.
