FC Oss vs Twente Predictions

Twente’s fabulous ten match winning streak finally came to an end in Kerkrade on match day 27, but their 1-1 draw against 6^th placed Roda JC was by no means a bad result. Although 2^nd placed Sparta Rotterdam managed to grind out a 2-1 home victory against RKC, the Enschede outfit still hold a commanding nine point lead at the top of Eerste Divisie, and they will be confident of at least maintaining that advantage when they square off against Oss at Frans Heesen Stadion this Friday.

Twente have been used to blowing teams away of late but they really had to scrap hard for a point at Parkstad Limburg Stadion last week. In fairness to the opposition, Roda JC turned in one of their best performances of the season, and a draw was probably the right result, after Aitor Cantalapiedra scored yet again to cancel out Mario Engels’ opener for Robert Molenaar’s side.

Both Sparta and Go Ahead Eagles chipped away at Twente’s huge lead with victories against RKC and MVV respectively, but Marino Pusic’s will feel that they have plenty in hand to see the job through in the final weeks of the campaign.

The chasers would essentially have to win every match from here on in and hope that Twente lose three or four of their remaining eleven games – and that simply doesn’t look like happening.

The Enschede club have been ruthlessly efficient since the end of November when they were last beaten in Eerste Divisie, and we can only see that continuing until the title is officially wrapped up.

Twente did fall to some sloppy defeats earlier in the campaign, and one of those reversals came against this Friday’s opponents Oss.

Klaas Wels’ side pinched a 1-2 success at De Grolsch Veste all the way back on match day four – a result which, at the time, took them above Twente in the league table.

Oss were challenging early doors, but a run of just one win in nine spanning from late November to early February ultimately saw TOP fall away into the bottom half, but they have staged a mini revival of late to climb back up to 8^th following wins against Telstar (1-0), Jong Utrecht (1-2) and a 0-0 stalemate away to Cambuur last week.

That form falls way below what will be required of them here though, and with just one victory from their last six games at home, TOP should come up well short against a Twente side that have won ten of their 14 outings on the road this season, including six of their last seven.

The visitors will be driven to put things right following that aforementioned loss to TOP in September in which they weren’t at their best, and we think Pusic’s side can land the spoils fairly comfortably here. A three point stake on the champions elect is recommended, and we’re also going for a 0-2 correct score in their favour.
