Ajax look doomed in latest De Klassieker

Feyenoord will attempt to inflict more pain on their great rivals from Amsterdam when they host Ajax in Sunday’s De Klassieker.

Arne Slot’s side thrashed Ajax 4-0 at Johna Cruyff Arena earlier this season and will be hopeful that if it all goes their way they can match that scoreline in front of their own fans at De Kuip.

Feyenoord have been in impressive home form this term, winning 10 of their last 13 home games and covering a -1 handicap in eight of those victories. Slot’s side are scoring goals at the moment, banging four past Utrecht last weekend and knocking three past Heracles earlier in March.

Brazilian can bag against Ajax again

They did fail to register in their midweek trip to Volendam, where the hosts put everyone behind the ball in an effort to claim a point, but Ajax have been reluctant to do that even when some would say it represents their best chance of getting a result.

It looks like the Rotterdammers, who are nine points behind leaders PSV with six games to go, will relinquish their title. But Slot’s team still have something special up their sleeve as they bid to end the campaign on a high and it could be another demolition of Ajax.

Last September’s thumping 4-0 win over them was sealed by a Santiago Gimenez hat-trick, but the Mexican marksman has gone a bit quiet of late. Instead, back Brazilian Igor Paixao to plunder a goal, as he did on his last two starts against Ajax and in three of his last four games ahead of this.
