Finland vs Belarus Predictions

Finland’s unbeaten run came to an end on Tuesday night when they slumped to a rather disappointing defeat away against Romania. In doing so, Huuhkajat struggled to really stamp their mark on the game offensively, wasting what half chances they had, while they were far too easy to break down defensively. Belarus are anything but the biggest threat, but the hosts will need to sharpen up to ensure that they gain a more positive result.

In contrast, Belarus maintained their rather impressive unbeaten record last time out. In drawing 1-1 against Hungary, Saturday’s visitors stretched their run without defeat to four matches. The way in which they dominated the game against Hungary last time out was impressive, while much of the same can be said about their wins against Slovenia and Azerbaijan prior to that. A big name they’re not, but Belarus have done well of late, so they ought to be feeling reasonably confident ahead of this match.

In terms of home form, Finland are a seemingly strong side. The hosts are unbeaten in five on home soil, three of which they’ve won. However, they’ve not exactly been tested in recent times, facing sides such as Malta and Estonia. To be quite honest, the form of the visitors on the road is more appealing than that of the hosts on home soil. Keeping this in mind, a punt on the visitors may just be the way to go at the prices.

Finland did recently score five goals at home to Malta, though repeating that feat against a Belarus side who’ve been giving little away of late may be difficult. What’s more, against Romania last time out, Saturday’s hosts looked lacklustre, while they struggled whenever they ventured into the final third. In contrast, Belarus looked very positive against Hungary.

Prior to their pleasing performance against the Hungarians, Belarus impressed when beating a useful Slovenia side away from home by two goals to nil. What’s more, they beat Azerbaijan on the road prior to that too. A repeat of either of those showings would surely see the visitors give Finland a hard time in this fixture.

In contrast, prior to their easy win over minnows Malta, Finland really struggled to break down a defiant Macedonia side on home soil. Such a performance against that opposition doesn’t bode too well for the hosts. Belarus have shown in recent times that they too can be defiant on the road, while they even carry an attacking threat, as both Hungary and Slovenia found out recently.

Overall, though the hosts have done well on home soil in recent times, their struggles from Tuesday’s game against Romania are fancied to carry over into this match. After a few pleasing performances of late, the visitors are the team to side with at the prices.
