Fiorentina vs Roma Predictions
- Fiorentina’s focus is on the cups and they won a draining contest with Maccabi Haifa on Thursday
- Roma have won six of their last seven Serie A matches, including their last three on the road
- Paulo Dybala has scored five goals in his last three appearances for the Giallorossi
Champions League-chasing Roma can grab the points
Roma’s run of success in the post-Jose Mourinho era could continue on Sunday when they take on a Fiorentina side whose main focus now is on the cup competitions.
La Viola are five points behind the Giallorossi in fifth and a further four away from clinching a possible Champions League place, which Roma have firmly in their sights.
Daniele De Rossi’s side can get there via the Europa League too and signalled their intentions to go one better than last year when they thrashed Brighton 4-0 at the Olimpico in midweek.
De Rossi handling his veterans well
Paulo Dybala, who has scored five goals in his last three appearances, and Romelu Lukaku led the way as Roma ran a weakened Seagulls side ragged. De Rossi wisely substituted his Argentinean ace with 20 minutes to go to ensure he has plenty to give in Sunday’s game.
Roma will come up against an attack-minded Fiorentina side with their former striker Andrea Belotti likely to lead the line. Vincenzo Italiano’s side needed to score four in Israel to beat Maccabi Haifa and could be vulnerable at the back to a team that have scored nine goals in their last three away league contests.
Roma have kept only two clean sheets in seven games since De Rossi succeeded Mourinho, but the possibility of Fiorentina being jaded from their midweek exertions puts us off backing both teams to score in this clash. Instead, and with Fiorentina’s own four-match domestic unbeaten run in mind, it could be worthwhile taking the visitors to roll on with another win in the Draw no Bet market.
