      Qarabag vs Vorskla Predictions

Qarabag entertain Vorskla at the Baku Olympic Stadium in the Azerbaijani capital on Thursday in a Europa League Group D clash between two teams still searching for their first points of the section.

Both teams have lost two out of two in their Europa League Group so far, which considerably ramps up the importance of their meeting on Thursday.

The Horsemen have won six of their last eight matches in total – a sequence that they can draw plenty of positives from. Their only two defeats during that period did come in the Europa League however.

On match day one, Qarabag held on until the second half in their game against Sporting CP in Lisbon, though they were eventually undone by a brace of second half strikes from the hosts. On match day two, they were swept aside 3-0 by Arsenal in Azerbaijan.

On Thursday, Qarabag are searching for their first goal of the group along with their first points and they have every chance of getting both against a Vorskla side who have never won away from home in this competition.

Vorskla currently sit one place above Qarabag in the Group D standings, though goal difference is all that separates the teams. The Ukrainians lost their meetings with Arsenal and Sporting, though they were at least able to breach their opponents’ defences.

The Zeleno-Bili grabbed two late consolation goals in their 2-4 loss at the Emirates against Arsenal in September and they took the lead against Sporting CP earlier this month in Ukraine, before they eventually slipped to a 2-1 defeat.

Domestically, things haven’t been going all that swimmingly for Vorskla either. Vasyl Sachko’s men have won six and lost six of their first twelve Ukrainian Premier League fixtures, and most of their troubles have come on the road.

Vorskla have lost five of their seven away matches in all competitions so far in 2018/19 and we expect that shakiness on their travels to be their undoing again on Thursday.

Qarabag have lost only two of their last ten at home – and one of those defeats came against Premier League powerhouse, Arsenal. We expect the Horsemen to battle their way to victory on Thursday, though with their propensity for conceding goals, we have little faith in their ability to keep a clean sheet.

Qarabag have only kept one clean sheet in their last four at home, and with that considered, we recommend taking the home win and both teams to score option for Thursday’s clash. Our correct score prediction forecasts a narrow 2-1 win for the hosts.
