Forest Green Rovers vs Bury Predictions

In what was a thrilling encounter at Gigg Lane, Bury beat MK Dons by four goals to three last weekend, coming from two goals down to emerge victorious late in the day. For the second match in a row, the Shakers scored four goals, so they ought to go to The New Lawn feeling confident on Saturday afternoon.

Forest Green have continued to prove that they’re a tough side to beat in recent weeks. Saturday’s hosts are now without a loss in six matches, while they’ve won four of those six. They were unable to make the breakthrough against Oldham last weekend, but their performance was an encouraging one, as they gave little away and created a nice amount going forward.

Some of Forest Green’s latest home performances haven’t been overly flashy, but what they have been is reasonably solid. Mark Cooper’s men have conceded no more than a single goal in any of their 12 home matches this season, while they’ve done a good job of creating more than they’ve given away in recent games.

While Forest Green have done reasonably well at home of late, Bury have stuttered somewhat on their travels. Ryan Lowe’s men did win away at Yeovil when last in action on the road, though that was their first away win in six.

Not only have Bury found it tricky to pick up wins on their travels of late, but their performances haven’t been overly impressive either. Bury just about deserved to beat Yeovil recently, but they were anything but clear-cut winners, while that was the first time in three away matches that they’d bettered their opponents in terms of expected goals. Saturday’s visitors have now been outperformed in terms of expected goals in three of their last six on the road, so there’s certainly hope for the hosts.

Bury’s main problem on the road is inconsistency; you can never quite tell what sort of performance they’re going to put in. If the Shakers are on it then they can cause teams all manner of problems, but if they’re not, then they’re there to be got at.

If we compare Forest Green’s overall efforts at home this season with Bury’s overall efforts on the road, then it’s not that difficult to support the hosts at the prices. There’s been a real sturdiness about the way Rovers have gone about their business at home in recent weeks, while Bury, who’ve conceded more goals than they’ve scored away from home, have been very hit and miss on the road.
