Fortaleza vs Avai Predictions, Betting Tips and Match Previews

Wednesday’s Brazilian Serie B action features a clash between Fortaleza and Avai. The visitors will be looking to take home a positive result from the league leaders.

League leaders though they may be, Fortaleza are certainly not playing well at the moment and look like dropping off of top spot in the near future. The side at least ended a run of back to back defeats with a 0-0 draw at CSA over the weekend, but said result means they’ve now failed to even so much as hit the net in their last 3 outings.

Fortaleza won 7 of their opening 8 matches, coming into the campaign with the momentum of promotion behind them, but things look to be slowing down now with just 2 wins picked up over the last 8 games. Rogério Ceni’s troops lost a couple of key players to Serie A clubs following their bright start and have struggled to recover, now looking unlikely for the fight for promotion unless immediate improvement is found.

Meanwhile, Avai are running along in solid, if unspectacular fashion in their quest to bounce back to Serie A at the first time of asking. The visitors currently occupy the last promotion spot after taking 26 points from 16 matches and will be looking to impose themselves on the promotion mix with a good showing here.

Avai certainly won’t fear travelling to Fortaleza given that most of their struggles this season have came on home soil. Leão da Ilha have won just 2 of their 8 home games so far this campaign but have won an impressive 5 from 8 on the road, arriving for this clash having lost just 1 of their last 7 away matches.

Ultimately, although Fortaleza are been priced as fairly comfortable favourites, we believe Avai can take something from the match and as such, see great value in backing the visitors on the double chance line.

There’s clearly some ability in Fortaleza ranks given their current standing, but they’ve looked a shadow of the outfit that opened the campaign in such dominant fashion and an Avai side that is stronger on enemy territory than home soil should be able to secure some sort of result.

All things considered, we’re expecting quite a tight game and like the look of backing a 0-0 draw in addition to our main tip. There’s already quite a lot at stake in this fixture, even at this early stage of the season and with both teams having recorded goalless draws in their last respective outings, there’s no reason to believe said scoreline cannot be repeated.
