Lack of firepower hampers both sides

Genoa and Parma both saw their winless streaks extended last weekend as they lost to Udinese and Roma respectively, and once again it was their meek attacking play that was highlighted as both teams failed to get on the scoresheet.

Genoa are now winless in their last seven Serie A matches, with their sole win of the season coming all the way back in September. They have lost five of these subsequent games and find themselves second from bottom in the table, while Parma are just one point better off in 17th place.

The visitors are without a win in five, but with three draws in that period there is cause for very cautious optimism. However, their lack of goals is still a concern.

Parma have netted just eight goals in their eight games this season and face a Genoa side that have scored seven in eight. Both of these sides have been involved in their fair share of high scoring games, but that’s largely been down to their opponents’ improved attacking output.

Genoa and Parma don’t have that confidence in front of goal, so backing under 2.5 goals is our preference and, with Parma drawing three of their last four games, a 1-1 correct score prediction is attractive as well.
