Can Getafe start strongly?

Getafe finished just one point above the La Liga relegation zone last season, with a five game winless run at the end of the campaign not helping their survival hopes.

Quique Sanchez Flores has brought in a number of players as he looks to avoid a repeat this time around, with Luis Milla (Granada), Morja Mayoral (Real Madrid) and Jaime Seoane (Huesca) among their arrivals.

But the match up with Atletico is a bad one, given Getafe have failed to win any of the last 21 meetings between the two sides, a run that includes 18 defeats.

Atleti hoping to carry momentum forward

Atletico Madrid did not make a great fist of their title defence last year, but they finished the season reasonably strongly to grab third place, picking up nine victories in total on their travels.

Diego Simeone’s side have enjoyed a strong pre-season, rounded off with a 4-0 battering of Juventus last week, as well as beating Manchester United 1-0 in July.

They have signed Axel Witsel from Borussia Dortmund over the summer and have not lost their opening league game since 2009.

I predict that Atleti will start the season with a win and given how strong they are defensively, 2-0 is my correct score prediction.
