Madrid could be made to fight all the way

Real Madrid can leapfrog Girona to go top of La Liga on Thursday, but they will know they cannot take anything for granted as they move across the Spanish capital to take on Getafe.

Their opponents are tenth in the standings, but are a tough team to beat on their own patch, where they have won four of their last five matches.

Los Blancos also needed a Jude Bellingham goal five minutes into injury-time to claim a 2-1 win in the reverse fixture, so they may have to grind it out.

Getafe can make their mark

Madrid at least have the confidence generated by five successive away victories and while Bellingham ahs grabbed all the headlines in a great first season in La Liga, Vinicius Junior has been flourishing too, scoring five goals in his last four games.

Getafe have to be respected though and are capable of scoring having lost just once on their own patch this term.

The concern is though that they will not be able to do enough to win as they have scored more than once in just three of their ten home games, so the best bet looks to be to support the visitors to win while both teams score.

With just two of Real’s last 11 featuring more than three goals, a 2-1 Madrid win is the preferred correct-score option.
