Gibraltar vs Armenia Predictions

October was a landmark month for Gibraltar’s international team. They went into the month with 22 competitive internationals played, and 22 defeats. Their Nations League campaign was supposed to change that, but back to back losses in September’s matches left them bottom of group D4. Then, a shock win away to Armenia gave them a first competitive win, and derailed the Armenians’ push to get out of the bottom tier. Gibraltar then leapfrogged Armenia as they claimed their second ever competitive win just days later. Can their remarkable rise continue?

A 2-1 victory over Liechtenstein put them onto six points in this group, only three points shy of the leaders Macedonia. Can Gibraltar continue that great form? They will have plenty of eyes on them after two great wins, and those successes were exactly what they needed to boost their morale at this level. They’ve stepped up thanks to being pooled with some of the weaker sides in Europe, and we are expecting them to continue their upturn when they host the Armenians this week.

The visitors were left reeling after their defeat at home to Gibraltar, and they responded with a win over Macedonia days later. However, they have lost two of their last three matches at this level, and failed to score in both of those defeats. Their goal threat isn’t substantial, despite having Premier League star Henrikh Mkhitaryan among their ranks. That couldn’t prevent a slip up at home to Gibraltar, and the visitors should be worried by their away form ahead of this visit to the Victoria Stadium.

The visitors have failed to win their last seven matches on their travels. They could see that run extended here, with Gibraltar now looking like a real threat in this group. The defensive efforts of the hosts deserves credit, having held out Armenia away, while they managed to claim a 1-0 friendly win at home before the start of the Nations League.

Having lost 14 of their last 17 trips, we don’t have much faith in favourites Armenia. The hosts seem massively priced given their recent form, and they’re tempting on the double chance market. However, you can get value on them with a +2 handicap, which means the bet pays out if Armenia win by a single goal, or if the hosts avoid defeat. Having improved at the back and gained some momentum, we don’t see the hosts getting hammered here.
