Gil Vicente vs Vitoria Setubal Predictions

Gil Vicente secured a point at home to Braga last weekend and will be looking to go one better against a Vitoria Setubal side who are yet to score in the league this season. The visitors have picked up two points via goalless draws in the league but were thrashed 4-0 in their only away game so far against Porto.

All of the stats heading into Saturday’s clash suggest that under 2.5 goals will be scored and make Gil Vicente favourites to claim all three points.

Under 2.5 goals have been scored in five of the six meetings between these two clubs and three of the duo’s last five encounters have ended in a win to nil. The last time these two sides met back in 2015 the game ended all square at 1-1 and extended the run in which no away team has won when these two sides have clashed to six consecutive matches.

The performances of both teams over the last month or so also points heavily towards a low-scoring encounter between the pair on Saturday, as under 2.5 goals have been scored in three of Gil Vicente’s and four of Vitoria Setubal’s last six matches. However, and this could prove the big difference between the pair this weekend, Gil Vicente have scored in all but two of their last six matches, while Vitoria Setubal have failed to score in four of their last six matches, including each of their three Primeira Liga games this season.

Gil Vicente are unbeaten at home in their last four matches, beating the likes of Porto and Aves during that period, while Vitoria Setubal haven’t scored in three of their last four away games, against Porto, Benfica’s reserves, and Sana Clara, all of which adds weight to our prediction of a Gil Vicente win with under 2.5 goals being scored.

We’re confident that under 2.5 goals will be produced in Saturday’s match and have predicted a final scoreline of 1-0 in favour of Gil Vicente. The hosts have started the season brightly in comparison to their guests who are yet to score in the Primeira Liga with three games played. This is traditionally a tight and tense fixture without much in the way of goalmouth action and we fully expect more of the same on Saturday.
