Go Ahead Eagles vs PSV Reserves Predictions

It’s 3rd vs 4th in Eerste Divisie at De Adelaarshorst on Good Friday as Go Ahead Eagles entertain Jong PSV, but these sides are hardly finishing the season with a flourish after both suffering three defeats from their last six. However, it’s the visitors who head into the contest on a better footing following a comprehensive 0-3 success at Volendam last week, and they look massively overpriced to bag the three points after hammering Go Ahead 5-1 in November’s reverse fixture.

Jong PSV were three games without a victory on the road prior to last week’s clash against Volendam, however goals from Ramselaar, Abhoukhlal and Piroe sealed a straightforward win over struggling Palingboeren at Kras Stadion.

Dennis Haar’s charges moved back up to 4th in the Eerste Divisie standings following Den Bosch’s 3-1 defeat at Almere City, and they will surely be fired up for this Friday’s contest against Go Ahead as a win in Deventer would lift them above Eagles into 3rd – the highest they will have been at any stage this term.

The head to head is difficult to ignore ahead of this encounter – Go Ahead haven’t beaten Jong in five previous meetings and the PSV reserves romped to a 5-1 triumph at De Herdgang in this season’s reverse fixture.

They also murdered the Deventer outfit towards the end of last term and were leading 6-0 in Eindhoven before adverse weather curbed proceedings late in the day, so Eagles will hardly be relishing this Friday’s game – especially after suffering a 5-2 hiding against Jong Ajax on Monday.

Eagles more than played their part in a thriller at Sportpark De Toekomst but they were blown away by the defending champions in the second half, and the heavy defeat wasn’t a great surprise after some shoddy results and performances in recent weeks.

John Stegeman’s side have been poor since mid-March when they were held to a 1-1 draw against second bottom Helmond Sport, and they have since lost 2-3 at home to 15th placed Telstar as well.

They scraped a 1-0 win over 18th placed Jong AZ at De Adelaarshorst earlier this month but overall their status as favourites for this Friday’s match at around 4/6 is highly questionable based on the formbook and their previous with Haar’s Jong outfit.

So although Go Ahead’s overall home record this season is strong with ten wins accrued from 17 starts, there’s plenty of value to be had in backing an away win here and we’re recommending a two point stake alongside a 1-3 correct score prediction.
