      Grasshopper vs Young Boys Predictions

Young Boys ended their four game winless streak in league and cup last weekend when they beat Sion 3-2 at home, and on that same day Saturday’s opponents Grasshopper were beaten 3-1 by Basel. Grasshopper might have the home advantage against Young Boys this weekend, but there are twenty points separating the two clubs and the visitors top the table while the hosts sit second from bottom.

Grasshopper lost their game at home to Basel inside the opening twenty minutes after going three goals behind. Zuffi opened the scoring in the sixth minute and Álvarez made it 2-0 to the visitors in the eleventh minute. Former Sporting Lisbon and Norwich striker van Wolfswinkel scored a third for Basel in the seventeenth minute and Grasshopper were left with a mountain to climb in the remaining seventy-three minutes of the match.

Things could have got worse for the hosts in the sixty-seventh minute but Frei failed to convert his spot kick and the scoreline remained 3-0. Grasshopper saw more of the ball, but didn’t do nearly enough with it to trouble their guests on a regular basis. Rhyner did manage to pull a goal back for Grasshopper late on, but by that time the damage had already been done.

Bahoui and Djuricin top score for Grasshopper this season with three league goals apiece, while teammate Holzhauser has chipped in with two Super League goals. Veteran French forward Hoarau continues to impress in front of goal for Young Boys with nine league goals for the table toppers.

Hoarau was called upon to begin the fightback against Sion last weekend, as Young Boys found themselves 2-0 down at half time thanks to Lenjani’s eleventh minute opener and an own goal from Aly Camara shortly before the half hour mark. Nsamé could have pulled a goal back for the hosts in first half stoppage time but failed to convert a penalty kick.

The hosts comeback didn’t get started until the sixty-fourth minute when Hoarau planted the ball into the back of the visitors net. The equaliser arrived with three minutes of the game to go as Sulejmani setup Assalé to make it 2-2. The hosts weren’t satisfied with just a point and pushed forward for the winning goal, and it was that man Sulejmani who once again provided the assist, this time for Sanogo in the ninetieth minute.

Young Boys sit eleven points clear at the top of the Super League and it doesn’t look like anyone will stop them this season. The bookmakers are backing an away win on Saturday and we’re confident that will be the case, but have also added both teams to score. Young Boys have won four of their last five matches against Grasshopper, while both teams have scored in three of the last four meetings between the pair. Both teams have scored in four of Grasshopper’s last six matches, and both teams have scored in five of Young Boys last six matches, which is why were think both teams will score on Saturday.
